چکیده
We study the spectroscopy of an ensemble negatively charged nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond at high temperatures between room temperature and [Formula: see text] under vacuum conditions. Spin resonances are studied using optical detection magnetic resonance (ODMR), is employed to radiative transitions. Upon increasing temperature, intensity decay visible infrared decreased. In addition, ODMR frequencies were decreased, phonon line emission shifted higher wavelengths. Density functional theory calculation zero-field splitting parameter ([Formula: text]) revealed that thermal expansion not enough explain shift frequencies. Fitting measured photo-luminescence with theoretical predictions Mott–Seitz model yields value for energy barrier associated nonradiative decay.

Magnetometry with Ensembles of Nitrogen Vacancy Centers in Bulk Diamond
This thesis summarizes experiments conducted to develop a high sensitivity vector magnetometer using nitrogen vacancy (NV) centers in a bulk diamond sample. This project began by analyzing the sensitivity of a single NV orientation using a continuous wave electron spin resonance approach. A protocol for determining the diamond's orientation was developed to map vector magnetic field readings in...
متن کاملHigh - precision electron - spin sensing with ensembles of nitrogen - vacancy centers in diamond
This thesis describes physical background and an experimental realization of a bulk diamond magnetic field and temperature sensor. The sensing is done using continuous-wave electronspin resonance spectra of nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond. Experiments were performed using a light-trapping diamond waveguide sample, with which we estimate to address 10" nitrogen-vacancy centers simultaneously...
متن کاملMechanical spin control of nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond.
We demonstrate direct coupling between phonons and diamond nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center spins by driving spin transitions with mechanically generated harmonic strain at room temperature. The amplitude of the mechanically driven spin signal varies with the spatial periodicity of the stress standing wave within the diamond substrate, verifying that we drive NV center spins mechanically. These spi...
متن کاملLongitudinal spin relaxation in nitrogen-vacancy ensembles in diamond
We present an experimental study of the longitudinal electron-spin relaxation of ensembles of negatively charged nitrogen-vacancy (NV–) centers in diamond. The measurements were performed with samples having different NV– concentrations and at different temperatures and magnetic fields. We found that the relaxation rate T–1 1 increases when transition frequencies in NV – centers with different ...
